For your safety and that of others a fast response recovery boat, on the left in this picture, is on standby when the water is in use. Buoyancy aids must be worn by all users of the Mere and these can be hired or purchased from the shop should you need one.
The picture on the left shows the start of a handicap race hosted by the Hornsea Sailing Club. The Hornsea sailing club is based on the Mere and has close links with HMM. Visit the berthing page for more information on pricing for berths and water use. |

Hornsea
mere has some of the best inland water dinghy sailing in Yorkshire. The Mere
offers 250 acres of freedom in your boat. The weather conditions can vary from
mild breeze to a roaring force 5 or 6 with turbulence caused by the surrounding
land features. 
This
challenging water hosts national racing events in a variety of classes. The
limit for boat size is anything up to 15', Including the Osprey class, but no motor launches are allowed.
